The name fits with Cadillac&#8217;s current style for EV name, which uses names ending in &#8220;-iq.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cadillac aims to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1132013_every-new-cadillac-will-be-electric\">sell only EVs<\/a> by the end of the decade, and is expected to only launch EVs from here on out. The rollout has already started with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136307_2023-cadillac-lyriq-test-drive-review\">2023 Cadillac Lyriq<\/a> crossover, and will continue with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136113_cadillac-celestiq-electric-flagship-revealed\">Celestiq flagship sedan<\/a>, due in 2024, likely as a 2025 model.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\" readability=\"7\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100848933_m\" title=\"Cadillac Celestiq concept\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Cadillac Celestiq concept\" width=\"640\" height=\"363\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"580\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/cadillac-celestiq-concept_100848933_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/cadillac-celestiq-concept_100848933_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/cadillac-celestiq-concept_100848933_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/cadillac-celestiq-concept_100848933_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/cadillac-celestiq-concept_100848933_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/cadillac-celestiq-concept_100848933_s.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Cadillac Celestiq concept<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Beyond those two models, Cadillac is also expected to launch an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136721_2024-cadillac-electric-compact-crossover-spy-shots\">electric compact crossover<\/a> for the 2024 model year, followed by a mid-size crossover with third-row seats, and an electric version of the Escalade.<\/p>\n<p>While Cadillac has three upcoming EVs with unconfirmed names, the Ascendiq filing gives it at least six possible trademarks to use. Trademarks for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1129102_optiq-and-symboliq-trademarks-hint-at-future-cadillac-evs\">Cadillac Optiq and Cadillac Symboliq<\/a> were filed in 2020, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1134237_escalade-iql-vistiq-and-lumistiq-may-be-in-cadillac-s-electric-future\">Vistiq and Lumistiq<\/a> in 2021. Cadillac also filed a trademark application for the Escalade IQL name at that time, hinting at the nomenclature for the Escalade EV.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1130408_more-than-one-third-of-cadillac-dealerships-bail-on-brand-s-electric-future\">Not every Cadillac dealer is on board<\/a> with the brand&#8217;s electric transformation. The automaker said last year that around one third of its dealers took buyouts rather than committing to selling EVs, which requires GM-mandated upgrades like the installation of charging equipment.
