{"id":33950,"date":"2022-10-18T06:18:36","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T10:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33950"},"modified":"2022-10-18T06:18:36","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T10:18:36","slug":"foxconn-unveils-electric-pickup-truck-crossover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=33950","title":{"rendered":"Foxconn unveils new electric pickup truck and crossover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foxconn, the Taiwan-based manufacturing giant, has unveiled a new electric pickup truck and a new electric crossover that will apparently make it to the US.<\/p>\n<p>Better known as Apple\u2019s manufacturing partner, Foxconn has been making a lot of moves in the EV space lately.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxconn.com\/en-us\/press-center\/events\/foxconn-events\/456\">it had developed a platform of open-source hardware and software<\/a>\u00a0for EV manufacturing and was\u00a0working to develop\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/solid-state-battery\/\">a solid-state battery<\/a>\u00a0by 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Last year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/10\/01\/lordstown-sells-ohio-factory-foxconn-build-electric-pickup-truck\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Foxconn even purchased most of Lordstown\u2019s factory in Ohio<\/a>\u00a0to produce electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the manufacturing giant is also building a big factory in Wisconsin, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/08\/12\/foxconn-to-build-ev-plants-in-us-to-offset-slowing-smartphone-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it is expected to produce electric vehicles there<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Around this time last year, it unveiled its first electric vehicle, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/10\/18\/foxconn-unveils-3-new-electric-vehicles-build-evs-for-other-brands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Foxtron Model C<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Taiwan today, Foxconn unveiled two new electric vehicles: the MODEL B crossover hatchback and the MODEL V all-terrain electric pickup.<\/p>\n<p>Now it\u2019s important to note that despite having unveiled several electric vehicles at this point, Foxconn apparently still doesn\u2019t plan to be a consumer-facing brand and plans to work with other automakers to sell its vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the Model C unveiled last year is now the Luxgen n7, a production vehicle in partnership with Taiwanese automaker\u00a0Yulon Group.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-model-b-crossover-hatchback\">MODEL B crossover hatchback<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Foxconn unveils new electric pickup truck and crossover\" width=\"2140\" height=\"1384\" src=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1000\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-260682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg 2140w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=150,97 150w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=300,194 300w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=768,497 768w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=1024,662 1024w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=1536,993 1536w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=2048,1325 2048w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=350,226 350w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/10\/Foxconn-Model-B.jpg?resize=1546,1000 1546w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2140px) 100vw, 2140px\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The MODEL B is an electric crossover designed in partnership with Pininfarina.<\/p>\n<p>Foxconn described the vehicle in a press release:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\" readability=\"13\">\n<p>The brand-new concept prototype MODEL B crossover is the mainstream for the younger generation. It is based on the MODEL C platform, but with changes to the platform size and a new body design. Its S-duct design, the streamlined roof, and the innovative air curtain on the C-pillar greatly reduces air turbulence. This allows the MODEL B to achieve an excellent drag coefficient of 0.26. Sensors surrounding the body are combined with electronic rearview mirrors and a display screen to integrate the instrument panel, which not only improves safety, but offers intelligent technology to users.
