During the same period, it delivered 343,830 to customers.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a new company record but fell below analysts&#8217; expectations and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-19\/tesla-sales-fall-short-of-estimates-as-stronger-dollar-bites?srnd=premium\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">the 22,000 deficit was a bigger gap than usual<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There weren&#8217;t enough boats, there weren&#8217;t enough trains there weren&#8217;t enough <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/car+carrier\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">car carriers<\/a>,&#8221; Musk told investors in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rev.com\/tc-editor\/shared\/32A5aBp6KOWtq5reWUoFZcJvrRVoZS0146s7P7uwvfASZRPrpLLKiGX_MxA0T0I9zy0NzqQaybFvxGRtKZ85VfS11-o?loadFrom=SharedLink\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">results call<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/elon-musk-tesla-should-produce-over-1-5-million-cars-in-2022\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">previously said<\/a> that Tesla would produce more than 1.5 million vehicles this year. The latest results show it&#8217;s made 929,910 so far this financial year, per a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-19\/tesla-sales-fall-short-of-estimates-as-stronger-dollar-bites?srnd=premium\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Bloomberg analysis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zachary Kirkhorn, Tesla&#8217;s CFO, said the issue was particularly present for ships from Shanghai to Europe as well as &#8220;local <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/truck\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">trucking<\/a> within certain parts of the US and Europe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Musk said that Tesla is working to &#8220;smooth out its deliveries&#8221; to avoid having a &#8220;crazy delivery wave&#8221; at the end of each quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for Tesla did not immediately respond to Insider&#8217;s request for further comment made outside of normal working hours.<\/p>\n<p>Automakers globally have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/electric-vehicle-startups-supply-chain-tesla-automaker-competitors-2022-8?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">battling supply chain<\/a> shortages, backlogs, and rising raw materials costs, especially for the precious metals crucial for making <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblotg.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\" rel=\"noopener\">batteries<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tesla has cited global factors for hindering the company&#8217;s production and delivery <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/tesla-delivered-record-343000-cars-q3-still-short-of-estimates-2022-10?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">in the last two quarters<\/a>, including an enforced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/teslas-crucial-shanghai-gigafactory-shut-due-covid-restrictions-2022-3?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">shutdown of its Shanghai factory<\/a> and supply chain issues that have been exacerbated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/putin-declares-there-4-new-regions-russia-annexation-speech-2022-9?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">Russia&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Despite a larger deliveries deficit than usual, Tesla enjoyed a bumper quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company made a net income of nearly $3.3 billion, on revenues of $21.45 billion during the quarter.
