{"id":34684,"date":"2022-10-27T09:04:15","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T13:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=34684"},"modified":"2022-10-27T09:04:15","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T13:04:15","slug":"vw-mobileye-autonomous-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=34684","title":{"rendered":"VW will work with Mobileye on automated driving after Argo exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BERLIN \u2014 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Volkswagen<\/a> plans to expand its cooperation with Intel&#8217;s Mobileye to include its automated driving program after Wednesday&#8217;s decision to no longer invest in self-driving startup Argo AI, two sources familiar with the plan told Reuters on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Mobileye, which develops autonomous driving technologies, already cooperates with <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">VW&#8217;s<\/a> software unit Cariad.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you have obtained good results with one partner, it makes sense to work with them in other fields as well,&#8221; said one of the sources.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen&#8217;s and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/ford\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Ford<\/a> Motor&#8217;s exit from Argo came after three years of joint efforts on the development of automated driving systems and investments of more than $3 billion, highlighting the cost pressure automakers face in that field.<\/p>\n<p>While Ford took a $2.7 billion non-cash pre-tax impairment on Argo, VW might have to write down more than one billion euros ($1.00 billion), a source familiar with the company said.<\/p>\n<p>Israel-based Mobileye went public this week, being valued at more than $20 billion.
