With the same tech potentially on the way for the Kia EV6, it might make this whole family of EVs more likely to reproduce their claimed 10% to 80% charge in 18 minutes.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We dived into the balance that Volvo is seeking between range and bidirectional charging capability in its upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137574_volvo-ex90-ev-battery-range-bidirectional-charging\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EX90 electric SUV<\/a>. At launch, the EX90 will be ready for AC and DC bidirectional charging, smart charging and, depending on the market, home energy management. With Volvo going fully electric by 2030, expect this to be the leading edge of a sea change in its ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137594_2023-ford-escape-hybrid-gets-a-sporty-st-line-twist-phev-doesn-t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023 Ford Escape Hybrid<\/a> is among the versions of this popular SUV getting a sporty new ST-Line treatment, as part of a mid-cycle refresh for the whole lineup. The taller, all-hybrid, all-wheel-drive sedan is offered in two powertrains, with Platinum versions dialing it up to a performance-oriented Hybrid Max system and 30-mpg rating.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In China, Toyota is tapping BYD\u2019s LFP battery tech for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137607_toyota-bz3-electric-sedan-taps-byd-battery-tech-only-for-china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tesla Model 3\u2013sized BZ3 sedan<\/a>, revealed this week, and it\u2019s intriguing on several levels. Will that include the U.S.?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The maker of the iPhone, Taiwan\u2019s Foxconn, is now a contract EV maker in Ohio, and it recently revealed its own first international-market EV, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137570_first-ev-from-iphone-maker-due-in-2023-two-more-prototypes-revealed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foxtron Model C<\/a>, due in 2023. Production for Kia will start in early 2025, and Hyundai revealed this past week that the plant has the potential for expansion from the original 300,000 EVs annually all the way to 500,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Honda promises to \u201cbring excitement back\u201d for the redesigned 11th-generation Accord, set to be revealed next month. The first will offer 48 charging ports and be built near Los Angeles\u2019 LAX airport.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Multiple plug-in truck recalls were related to battery woes. Nearly 14,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137585_jeep-recalls-2022-2023-wrangler-4xe-phev-over-battery-fuse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid<\/a> SUVs from the 2022 and 2023 model years have been recalled for the battery pack\u2019s 200-amp fuse, and an issue that might leave owners stalled. And a new study suggests it\u2019s the lowest-CO2 solution.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tesla is reportedly facing multiple new levels of scrutiny from both the U.S. DOJ and SEC\u2014both over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137653_reports-tesla-will-face-doj-sec-scrutiny-over-self-driving-claims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">self-driving claims<\/a>.
