For 1997, the replacement for that legendary car finally arrived, in the form of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aronline.co.uk\/cars\/jaguar\/jaguar-in-the-1990s\/history-jaguar-1990s-%e2%80%93-part-three\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">the oft-delayed XK8<\/a>. Here&#8217;s one of those first-year cars, found in <a href=\"https:\/\/upullandpay.com\/locations\/denver-co\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">a self-service yard in Denver, Colorado<\/a> recently.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/09\/04175822\/28-1997-Jaguar-XK8-in-Colorado-junkyard-Photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aronline.co.uk\/cars\/jaguar\/xj40\/concepts-and-prototypes-jaguar-xj4142\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Development of this car&#8217;s platform and general shape<\/a> goes back to 1980, when endless prototypes were built and forgotten. Once <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/ford\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Ford<\/a> took over Jaguar in 1990, the abaondoned XJ41 project was revived and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportmagazine.com\/articles\/road-cars\/jaguar-became-aston-martin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">became the 1994 Aston Martin DB7<\/a>. Fast-forward three years and you get a Jaguar-badged cousin of that car.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/09\/04175832\/40-1997-Jaguar-XK8-in-Colorado-junkyard-Photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The 1997 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/jaguar\/xk8\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">XK8<\/a> could be purchased in coupe or convertible form. A cool $69,900, which would be around $130,165 in 2022 dollars.
