{"id":35638,"date":"2022-11-09T09:04:05","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T14:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=35638"},"modified":"2022-11-09T09:04:05","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T14:04:05","slug":"1137778_porsche-911-dakar-set-for-2022-la-auto-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=35638","title":{"rendered":"Porsche 911 Dakar set for 2022 LA auto show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Porsche will use this month&#8217;s 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/los-angeles-auto-show\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles auto show<\/a> to debut a new member of its 911 family, the 911 Dakar.<\/p>\n<p>The car is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1089319_2023-porsche-911-safari-spy-shots-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">off-road-ready 911 variant<\/a> spotted testing over the past year and previously thought to be called a 911 Safari.<\/p>\n<p>The new name is a nod to the gruelling Dakar Rally, in which Porsche took a victory in its first attempt back in 1984 using a 911-based 953 rally car. In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1133595_first-drive-review-2022-porsche-911-gts-improves-upon-greatness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">911 Carrera GTS<\/a>, the engine delivers a stout 473 hp.<\/p>\n<p>The prototypes also feature widened wheel arches, increased ground clearance, and all-terrain tires. A rugged suspension will almost certainly be fitted to ensure the car can handle rough surfaces at speed.<\/p>\n<p>The famous Ch\u00e2teau de Lastours test track in southern France was used to test the car&#8217;s performance in rally conditions, with successful racing driver and Porsche tester Romain Dumas taking time behind the wheel. Expect sales to start in the first half of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Volkswagen Group brand Lamborghini is also set to unveil an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1137760_lamborghini-s-last-pure-combustion-car-to-debut-in-december\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">off-road-ready Hurac\u00e1n<\/a> shortly.
