Tesla has been doing it for years, with EV newcomers such as Rivian and Lucid having similar approaches. But what about legacy automakers? Well, it\u2019s bound to happen sooner or later as several companies \u2013 including Mercedes \u2013 have also signaled their intentions of providing their clients with a more straightforward method of purchasing cars.<\/p>\n<p>Archrival BMW will be doing the same, from 2026. That makes sense since there are many legal hurdles in North America an automaker must face. As a matter of fact, many states have instituted outright bans on direct sales, which would obviously hinder the program\u2019s success in the country. That\u2019s a real shame since the so-called \u201cmarket adjustments\u201d are making cars increasingly prohibitive and some people just want to avoid the hassle.<\/p>\n<p>The business model will be initially implemented by MINI as early as 2024, two years before the core brand. In the meantime, BMW has opened a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/10\/21\/australian-dealer-opens-showroom-new-bmw-group-retail-corporate-identity\/\">showroom in Australia<\/a> carrying the latest retail Corporate identity.
