For 2022, <em>CR<\/em> has collected data from more than 300,000 cars spanning the 2000 to 2022 model years, plus a few 2023MY vehicles as well. The in-depth analysis focused on 17 different areas, varying from engine and transmission to in-car electronics.<\/p>\n<p>Not all brands have been included in the study because either <em>Consumer Reports<\/em> was unable to gather enough data or the automaker just doesn\u2019t have enough models. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/11\/14\/mini-considering-compact-hatchback-rival-volkswagen-golf\/\">MINI<\/a> has been excluded from the study, along with the following brands: Porsche, Maserati, Jaguar, Infiniti, Dodge, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, Rivian, Polestar, Land Rover, Fiat, and Mitsubishi.<\/p>\n<p>There are some big changes for the 2022 rankings as BMW has jumped no fewer than 10 positions to secure third place. Toyota has climbed two positions to grab the number one spot while its luxury brand Lexus is right behind. Ford\u2019s premium marque Lincoln is up 14 positions to earn the tenth spot while Hyundai\u2019s posh brand Genesis is up by 9 places to 12<sup>th<\/sup> place. These two are followed by the X3, X5, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2022\/09\/22\/2023-bmw-x7-m60i-video-rear-wheel-steering\/\">X7<\/a>, and the 5 Series.<\/p>\n<p>The least reliable cars according to <em>CR\u2019s<\/em> 2022 analysis are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>2023 Ford F-150 Hybrid \u2013 4 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Hyundai Kona Electric \u2013 5 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Lincoln Aviator \u2013 8 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Nissan Sentra \u2013 9 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Ford Explorer \u2013 16 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Chevrolet Bolt \u2013 27 points;<\/li>\n<li>Chevrolet Silverado 1500 \/ GMC Sierra 1500 \u2013 19 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Jeep Gladiator \u2013 21 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE \u2013 23 points;<\/li>\n<li>2023 Jeep Wrangler \u2013 24 points.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Other important findings from the most recent analysis show hybrids along with midsize and large sedans have the fewest issues. However, plug-in hybrids tend to have more issues than traditional hybrids.
