{"id":36444,"date":"2022-11-19T00:03:58","date_gmt":"2022-11-19T05:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=36444"},"modified":"2022-11-19T00:03:58","modified_gmt":"2022-11-19T05:03:58","slug":"byd-two-new-ev-brands-2023-yangwang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=36444","title":{"rendered":"BYD To Launch Two New EV Brands In 2023: Yangwang And One New"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BYD, by the way of reaching a cumulative production of 3 million New Energy Vehicles, officially confirmed two new EV brands that will be launched in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>According to Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/byd\/\">BYD<\/a>, the company will form <em>&#8220;a powerful brand matrix&#8221;<\/em> including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BYD (Dynasty and Ocean),<\/li>\n<li>Denza,<\/li>\n<li>Yangwang,<\/li>\n<li><em>&#8220;another new brand that specializes in professional and personalized identities, covering family cars and luxury cars&#8221;<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Dynasty and Ocean are currently the two main product series of the main BYD brand, while Denza is a luxury arm that&#8217;s 90% controlled by BYD and in 10% by Mercedes-Benz (<a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/557312\/daimler-denza-jv-byd-agreement\/\">originally it was 50\/50 joint venture, but Daimler reduced its stake in mid-2022<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Together with two new brands &#8211; Yangwang and one new (not yet announced), BYD Auto would like to have a total of five brands.<\/p>\n<p>The Yangwang brand (\u4ef0\u671b), announced on November 8, is envisioned as a high-end brand in the luxury segment, <em>&#8220;with disruptive technologies and products&#8221;<\/em>. The name means &#8211; in simple translation &#8211; <em>&#8220;look up&#8221;<\/em> or <em>&#8220;looking up.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the purpose of the brand, BYD registered in November a new subsidiary &#8211; Shenzhen Yangwang Automobile Sales Co. Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>The first model will be launched in the first quarter of 2023 with a promise of\u00a0<em>&#8220;unprecedented high performance.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to <em>CnEVPost<\/em>, the first model will be a hardcore off-road electric vehicle. The Chinese media already published images of camouflaged off-road SUVs, which reportedly are Yangwang test vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>We are not entirely sure, but in the end, the Yangwang EV might become a competitor to <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/587512\/mercedes-benz-eqg-electric-tank-turn\/\">the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQG all-electric G-Class equivalent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This new brand is promised to introduce a &#8220;novel pioneering technology,&#8221; which will be used for the first time &#8211; on top of Blade Battery and CTB (cell-to-body) structural battery. We don&#8217;t know what it iss, but maybe something related to all-wheel drive with four motors?<\/p>\n<p>The Yangwang will not be for everybody, as its prices are expected to start at 800,000 CNY ($112,000) and go up to 1.5 million CNY ($211,000).<\/p>\n<p>Besides Yangwang, BYD Auto is preparing another undisclosed brand, which will also arrive in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Here is how the manufacturer describes this new project:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10\">\n<p>&#8220;In addition, in 2023, BYD will release a new brand grounded in highly professional and personalized identities, to meet the diversified demand of consumers.
