Auto Show<\/a>, the 500X will be discontinued after it reaches the end of its lifecycle. &#8220;When it dies, it dies. Given those anemic numbers and the fact it debuted at the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/paris-motor-show\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Paris Auto Show<\/a> of 2014, the end of its lifecycle might not be that far off \u2014 2023 might be its final model year.<\/p>\n<p>Fran\u00e7ois&#8217; comments douse cold water on rumors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/05\/27\/fiat-500l-500x-merge-into-500xl\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">claiming<\/a> Fiat planned to merge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/11\/26\/2022-fiat-500x-yacht-club-capri-special-edition\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">the 500X<\/a> and the 500L into one model tentatively called 500XL. When it does sail off into the history book, the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/jeep\/renegade\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">Jeep Renegade&#8217;s<\/a> Italian cousin will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/11\/17\/fiat-500e-electric-hatchback-america-la-auto-show-fashion\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">pass the torch to the electric 500e<\/a>, which has been on sale in Europe since 2020 but won&#8217;t land in the United States until early 2024. Market-specific details will be announced in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Fiat seems content with offering a one-model range in the United States. &#8220;We have a clear plan not to do anything besides the 500. It&#8217;s the one model people like,&#8221; Fran\u00e7ois candidly admitted. &#8220;Fiat is not here to be everything to everyone everywhere,&#8221; he added. And, the company knows a tiny EV with a range rating of under 200 miles will be a tough sell. Fran\u00e7ois predicted American sales will be &#8220;a rounding error.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>European motorists see more of the Fiat iceberg. The Turin-based company notably still sells the last-generation 500 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/07\/02\/2021-abarth-695-esseesse-specs-pricing-availability\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">its Abarth-tuned derivatives<\/a>, which both left American showrooms <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2019\/09\/01\/2019-fiat-500-hatchback-cabrio-abarth-ending-production\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:16;\">in 2019<\/a>.
