The company is taking pre-orders now \u2014 at an MSRP of $159,000 \u2014 and expects to deliver to customers in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed vehicle is thoroughly 21<sup>st<\/sup> century, inside, outside and underneath, according to Kindred\u2019s founder Rob Howard. \u201cIt represents balance \u2014 a beautiful design that\u2019s fun and easy to own and drive, but that isn\u2019t afraid to do a little dirty work as well,\u201d he said. Original <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hemmings.com\/classifieds\/cars-for-sale\/chevrolet\/3100\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">collectors versions of a Chevy 3100 currently sell<\/a> for about $30,000 and up.<\/p>\n<p>Driven by its rear wheels, the electric <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">Chevy<\/a> will be able to cruise 200 miles before requiring a plug-in, with a full charge taking about \u00a0nine hours using a Level 2 charger. A double wishbone suspension links to 17-inch wheels, and there\u2019s rack and pinion steering, power disc <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/brakes\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">brakes<\/a> at all four wheels, and electric power steering.<\/p>\n<p>Modern amenities are in place in the cabin, including AC, a touchscreen media display, heated bench seats, and, of course, cupholders.\u00a0 Exterior lighting is LED, and the truck bed, according to Kindred\u2019s spec sheet, is designed to be used as intended, with marine-grade waterproof flooring, modular tie-downs, and a push-button tailgate featuring hidden links. The textured surface on the running boards and inside the bed is color-matched to the truck.<\/p>\n<p>Howard says that other restoration projects \u2014 all based on original donor vehicles \u2014 are in development, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/kindredmotorworks.com\/models\/kindred-vw-bus\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Sixties-era Volkswagen bus,<\/a>\u00a0a funky <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/ford\/bronco\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Bronco<\/a> with gas or electric power, and a 1969 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/camaro\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Camaro<\/a> with a 700-horsepower <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/gm\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">GM<\/a> 6.2L supercharged V8 and six-speed manual transmission.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1000x800\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/11\/21141312\/Chevy3100_Front.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The electric age meets the Fifties \u2026 in luscious cherry red, appetizing buttercream, cool slate blue, and with 294 horsepower.
