The $1,200 annual subscription, however, has not been homologated for sale in the EU just yet. As a result, EQS or EQE owners closest to <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/mercedes-benz\/\">Mercedes-Benz\u2019s<\/a> home country of Germany cannot yet take advantage of the update.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-268446\"\/><ins class=\"adsbygoogle author_ad ad-container adsbygoogle author_ad hide-lg author-in-content\" data-ad-host=\"ca-host-pub-5506057612223327\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8939143170397121\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As a legacy automaker, Mercedes-Benz has been taking longer strides than many when it comes to the electrification of its vehicle lineup. After beginning deliveries of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carsdirect.com\/buildyourcar\/style?make=mercedes-benz&amp;model=eqs-class&amp;src=1001054&amp;lnk=subIDSCOOTER\">the EQS sedan<\/a> last year, Mercedes has followed up with a smaller EV sedan called the EQE, in which we <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/11\/01\/mercedes-benz-shares-eqe-pricing-for-us-starting-below-75000-with-305-miles-of-range\/\">saw the official pricing<\/a> update earlier this month. <\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Mercedes has <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/10\/16\/mercedes-debuts-upcoming-eqe-suv-alongside-high-performance-amg-version\/\">announced SUV versions<\/a> of both sedans to be built in the US at its facility in Alabama. These four EV models are joined by a friendlier priced EQB SUV in the US as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/08\/27\/mercedes-benz-eq-vehicles-2023-model-year\/\">upcoming AMG versions<\/a> of several of the EQ vehicles. <\/p>\n<p>Mercedes-Benz EV\u2019s being delivered all come capable of <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/06\/07\/over-the-air-updates-how-does-each-ev-automaker-compare\/#:~:text=Source%3A%20Lucid%20Motors-,Mercedes%2DBenz,-Mercedes%2DBenz%20currently\">over-the-air (OTA) updates<\/a>, allowing for easier upgrades to a model\u2019s software like navigation and infotainment. Most recently, however, Mercedes-Benz is using its EV update capabilities to provide a la carte performance options to current owners, similar to paywalls other German automakers like BMW already have in place.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla sells an \u201cAcceleration Boost\u201d upgrade to current owners for an additional $2,000, unlocking a given EV\u2019s full potential. SUV versions should also see performance improvements. According to a spokesperson for the German automaker, however, European customers will not have access to the EV update because Mercedes has yet to homologate it for sale in that region.<\/p>\n<p>Circling back to those lucky US consumers, the spokesperson also said the EV acceleration update will begin as an annual subscription, but will eventually be sold as a permanent add-on.
