{"id":37068,"date":"2022-11-29T00:04:21","date_gmt":"2022-11-29T05:04:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=37068"},"modified":"2022-11-29T00:04:21","modified_gmt":"2022-11-29T05:04:21","slug":"1137975_de-tomaso-p900-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=37068","title":{"rendered":"De Tomaso follows up P72 with new P900 V-12 hypercar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>De Tomaso unveiled the P900 hypercar on Monday, further accelerating the revival of the historic Italian performance marque.<\/p>\n<p>It started in 2019 with the reveal of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1135231_de-tomaso-p72-dances-on-ice-during-winter-test\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">P72 supercar,<\/a>\u00a0which is a showstopper powered by a Roush-tuned Ford V-8.<\/p>\n<p>The modern De Tomaso revealed a follow up in the form of the V-12-powered P900 hypercar. The design is clearly derived from the P72 but the new rear section features a roof scoop, stabilizer fin, and huge wing to create the aura of a race car, adding to rumors De Tomaso is mulling an entry in top-level endurance racing with its own LMH.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100866518_m\" title=\"De Tomaso P900\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"De Tomaso P900\" width=\"640\" height=\"432\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"692\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/de-tomaso-p900_100866518_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/de-tomaso-p900_100866518_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/de-tomaso-p900_100866518_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/de-tomaso-p900_100866518_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/de-tomaso-p900_100866518_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/de-tomaso-p900_100866518_s.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>De Tomaso P900<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The company remains tight with details but said the P900 is aimed at track enthusiasts, in contrast to the P72 that was designed as a grand tourer. The company also said the V-12 in the P900 is a unique design.<\/p>\n<p>As for any racing potential, De Tomaso said the project&#8217;s aim is to highlight the use of carbon-neutral synthetic fuels that a number of companies, including oil giants like Aramco, are exploring. Potential sources for such fuels include biomass or newer carbon-capture technology, like what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1130590_porsche-backed-pilot-plant-to-produce-synthetic-fuel-at-industrial-scale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Porsche is developing at its pilot plant<\/a> in Punta Arenas, Chile. Formula 1 is also committed to introducing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136635_f1-developing-100-sustainable-fuel-in-time-for-2026-season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">synthetic fuels by 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>De Tomaso is yet to announce production details for the P900. The main focus at present is the P72, due in 2023 and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1134733_de-tomaso-p72-to-be-built-at-the-ring-by-team-responsible-for-porsche-919-lmp1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">built in a run of 72 cars<\/a> at a plant jointly operated by De Tomaso and the German engineering company Capricorn Group, and located at the N\u00fcrburgring.
