CEO Elon Musk just recently tweeted that the electric hauler was able to pull off a 500-mile trip &#8220;weighing in at 81,000 pounds!&#8221; However, we don&#8217;t know what the truck weighs when it&#8217;s not loaded, so this doesn&#8217;t tell us how much weight it was pulling.<\/p>\n<p>As you may know, finding certain information about Tesla&#8217;s vehicles is often difficult. This is because, unlike most automakers, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22tesla%22%7D\">Tesla<\/a> doesn&#8217;t always reveal every detail and spec. Add the ~10,000-pound trailer, and you&#8217;re looking at about 35,000 pounds before adding any cargo.<\/p>\n<p>As the story goes, recent spy shots of the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/semi\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22tesla%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22semi%22%7D\">Tesla Semi<\/a> show it loaded with 11 Jersey barriers. There&#8217;s a fair chance that the loaded semi-truck is the one Tesla used for the range test Musk recently tweeted about. So, if the Tesla Semi that <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/category\/elon-musk\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"8\" data-params=\"%7B%22section_route%22%3A%22news%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22elon-musk%22%7D\">Elon Musk<\/a> tweeted about is the same as the one pictured with 11 barriers, that means the load was about 44,000 pounds. This could mean that the electric hauler won&#8217;t be capable of transporting as much weight as some of its gas- or diesel-powered peers, but it&#8217;s impossible to know for sure at this point, especially since its electric powertrain could be more robust than an ICE option, though there&#8217;s also the issue of range.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, Tesla will provide many more details at the Semi even tomorrow.
