The electric automaker had been fairly criticized up to that point for its interior not being on par with other luxury vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Bell took over Tesla\u2019s engineering team in charge of vehicle interiors based in California. He stayed in that role until last year when he was promoted to senior director of vehicle engineering for Europe based in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>But now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/briefings\/tesla-loses-german-engineering-executive-to-volvo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Independent<\/a> is reporting that Bell is leaving Tesla to return to Volvo:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\" readability=\"8\">\n<p>He returns to Volvo next month where he will head the team leading development on \u2018computing, electrification, connectivity and autonomous drive.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Interestingly, in Bell\u2019s time away from Volvo, the Swedish automaker has been sort of following Tesla\u2019s direction in interior design.<\/p>\n<p>The interior of <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/11\/09\/volvo-unveils-ex90-safest-vehicle-it-has-ever-produced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the recently unveiled Volvo EX90 electric SUV<\/a> is extremely reminiscent of Tesla\u2019s Model S\/X interior before the 2021 design refresh:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"is-layout-flex cluster.<\/p>\n<p>The fans are also elongated and somewhat hidden within the dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>Volvo has also decided to give up on building its own software experience on these screens, and it is going with Android Auto instead.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-electrek-s-take\">Electrek\u2019s Take<\/h2>\n<p>This is something that I want to keep an eye on going forward with everything that is happening with Elon Musk; Tesla\u2019s biggest asset is undoubtedly its ability to attract and retain top talent.<\/p>\n<p>I am not saying that it is the case right now, but if we do start seeing an exodus of
