The company had made earlier assertions it wanted to use it, and teased the Tesla ports and charging connector in a 2020 preview of the EV. Earlier this year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/congress-tesla-superchargers-and-plugs-should-be-the-u-s-standard-for-evs?recruiter=1270552848&amp;recruited_by_id=aa7f7db0-fca8-11ec-aece-5bacbeb52704&amp;utm_source=social+&amp;utm_medium=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=share_petition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aptera backed a petition<\/a> to make Tesla connectors and Superchargers the U.S. standard. But with the announcement of the supplier, it\u2019s now official.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\" readability=\"7\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100867369_m\" title=\"Aptera using Tesla NACS connector\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Aptera using Tesla NACS connector\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"576\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/aptera-using-tesla-nacs-connector_100867369_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/aptera-using-tesla-nacs-connector_100867369_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/aptera-using-tesla-nacs-connector_100867369_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/aptera-using-tesla-nacs-connector_100867369_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/aptera-using-tesla-nacs-connector_100867369_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/aptera-using-tesla-nacs-connector_100867369_s.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Aptera using Tesla NACS connector<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Aptera will use in-wheel motor tech from Elaphe, and it confirmed earlier this year that it\u2019s using EVE Energy cells, in the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1136304_aptera-chooses-eve-energy-2170-cells-for-1000-mile-solar-supplemented-ev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2170 format<\/a> Tesla has used in most Model Y and Model 3 vehicles, with battery packs ranging up to around 100 kwh for the 1,000-mile range model. Likewise, in what it claims is \u201cthe most efficient vehicle ever made available to consumers,\u201d Aptera has teased <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1131882_aptera-shows-how-its-never-charge-solar-ev-performs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tesla-level performance<\/a>, at 0-60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">That said, the company has suggested that since its power demands are so low, and its solar EV can regain up to 40 miles of daily driving from solar energy, most owners will find Level 2 charging all they need. The 3.3-kw onboard AC charger will gain 33 miles of range per hour, it claims.
