In Brazil, the newest will be the 2023 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">Chevy<\/a> Montana. And it&#8217;s a sharp little thing that we can&#8217;t help but wonder if it could somehow end up here.<\/p>\n<p>The press release was a little light on mechanical details, but the Montana&#8217;s based on the same platform as the Chevy Onix sedan and hatchback, and the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/tracker\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Chevy Tracker<\/a> crossover. Don&#8217;t confuse the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/tracker\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Tracker<\/a> for the old Suzuki-based SUV. The Montana is derived from the Chevy Tracker, which, although a bit similar in size and shape to the recently revealed 2024 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/trax\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Trax<\/a>, it&#8217;s based on a different platform (<a class=\"c-link\" tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/gm\/chevrolet\/tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/gm\/chevrolet\/tracker\/\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" data-remove-tab-index=\"true\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Montana on GEM<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"c-link\" tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/2022\/10\/here-is-the-2024-chevy-trax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/2022\/10\/here-is-the-2024-chevy-trax\/\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" data-remove-tab-index=\"true\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">Trax on VSS-F<\/a>). According to <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-finder\/chevrolet\/truck\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Chevy, the truck<\/a> was developed by <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/gm\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">GM<\/a> technical centers in South America, North America and Asia.<\/p>\n<p>Being based on the Tracker, the Montana should have MacPherson-strut front suspension and a torsion-beam rear end. There is a single powertrain option: a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder making 133 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. It&#8217;s paired with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. And while the platform may differ from the Trax, that powertrain is pretty much the same. According to <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">Chevrolet<\/a> of Brazil, the Montana has received a variety of structural reinforcements to handle truck duty, and apparently payload is close to half the truck&#8217;s weight. We would imagine that would be somewhere around 1,500 pounds, assuming the truck weighs around 3,000 pounds, give or take a couple hundred.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-half\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1600x900\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/02134941\/nova-chevrolet-montana-F_cac\u0327amba-10-copy.jpg\" alt=\"2023 Chevy Montana\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-half\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1600x900\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/02134930\/nova-chevrolet-montana-F_cac\u0327amba-1-copy.jpg\" alt=\"2023 Chevy Montana\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The truck is fairly small. It&#8217;s about a foot shorter in length than the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/ford\/maverick\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">Maverick<\/a> and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hyundai\/santa+cruz\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">Santa Cruz<\/a>. Chevy didn&#8217;t give a length for the bed, but it does look fairly usable. Chevy is also offering a really nifty shelf system. It consists of a couple panels that can be reconfigured to create a shelf in the bed or dividers. They have plenty of little hooks and tray bins, too, for further organization.
