This was <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GM_U_platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">the U-body minivan<\/a>, which was sold with badges from three <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/gm\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">GM<\/a> divisions: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ut0zVHLUDGI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Pontiac Trans Sport<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetruthaboutcars.com\/2013\/08\/junkyard-find-1996-oldsmobile-silhouette\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Oldsmobile Silhouette<\/a>\u00a0and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/lumina\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Chevrolet Lumina<\/a> APV. Here&#8217;s one of those first-year U-vans, a very battered <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/lumina\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Lumina<\/a> APV, found in a Denver-area self-service yard recently.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/10\/29221129\/02-1990-Chevrolet-Lumina-APV-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2018\/01\/10\/chevy-lumina-junkyard-find\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">Chevrolet Lumina\u00a0sedan<\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>had arrived for the previous model year, and GM decided to slap its name on the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Chevy<\/a> version of the new van despite not much relationship between the Lumina car&#8217;s W platform and the Lumina minivan&#8217;s U platform.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/10\/29221132\/11-1990-Chevrolet-Lumina-APV-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Lumina APV\/Trans Sport\/<a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/oldsmobile\/silhouette\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Silhouette<\/a> suffered from an unfortunate resemblance to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RQnq7Utvtzk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">a very popular hand-held vacuum cleaner sold by Black &amp; Decker<\/a>, and so these machines became known as the &#8220;Dustbuster&#8221; <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-finder\/minivan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">minivans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/10\/29221138\/19-1990-Chevrolet-Lumina-APV-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The long snout resulted in the top of the dash being deep enough to store an extra-large pizza or three.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/10\/29221142\/23-1990-Chevrolet-Lumina-APV-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Every Dustbuster van ever sold came with a V6 engine with 3.1, 3.4 or 3.8 liters of displacement.
