The update includes a new <a href=\"https:\/\/stories.rivian.com\/software-update-snow-mode?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=software_update&amp;utm=Parameter%202%20%5butm=%5d:%20&amp;utm_source=sfmc&amp;utm_term=562509&amp;utm_business=b2c&amp;utm_content=121622_software_update&amp;utm_locale=en-us&amp;utm_audience=poh_rh&amp;mcrid=25474735\" rel=\"\">&#8220;Snow mode&#8221;<\/a> drive mode that is optimized for driving on snow, slush, and ice. The update reduces the accelerator pedal response to reduce the likelihood of wheelspin and reduces regenerative braking to help avoid slipping or locking the wheels when driving on slippery surfaces.<\/p>\n<p>The update also includes features such as remotely warming the cabin, defrosting and de-icing windows and mirrors, and remotely activating seat and steering wheel heaters. The factory is currently only producing the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/model-y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Model Y<\/a>, but once it reaches a production capacity of 5,000 vehicles per week, Tesla is expected to add new models to the factory&#8217;s production schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla&#8217;s goal was originally to produce 5,000 vehicles per week at each of its Gigafactories in Berlin and Texas by the end of the year, but that\u2019s unlikely with us quickly approaching the end of the year (that\u2019s next week, crazy). Tesla is also expected to start battery production at the Gigafactory Berlin in 2023.<\/p>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"video\" data-url-params=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sizer\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAABAAAAAJCAYAAAA7KqwyAAAAGXRFWHRTb2Z0d2FyZQBBZG9iZSBJbWFnZVJlYWR5ccllPAAAABpJREFUeNpi\/P\/\/PwMlgImBQjBqwLAwACDAAOVfAw9\/ZDvcAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC\" alt=\"\"\/> <\/p>\n<p><iframe allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"636\" title=\"The\u00a0fully electric Audi SQ8 Sportback e-tron | Experience sporty sophistication\" width=\"1131\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gj62pOK6v64\" data-src-param=\"\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<h2>ICE ICE Bye Bye<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/audi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Audi <\/a>plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/627472\/audi-build-evs-all-factories-2029\/\" rel=\"\">build EVs at all of its factories<\/a> by 2029, with production beginning at plants in Germany, Hungary, and Mexico within the next six years. The automaker has also announced that it will only introduce EVs from 2026 and phase out models powered by combustion engines by 2033.<\/p>\n<p>To support its shift to EVs, Audi will invest approximately \u20ac500 million in the coming years to train its employees for EV production around the world. The company is also building a new manufacturing site in China in partnership with FAW for EVs based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. The new requirements, which include a $7,500 credit split into two parts, are set to take effect on January 1, 2023. However, the lack of guidance on battery requirements could create a window in 2023 where EV purchases that may not meet the pending requirements could still qualify for some level of tax credits.<\/p>\n<p>The government has until the end of the year to develop guidance on the battery requirements, but the Treasury Department has stated that it needs until at least March to determine the EV battery requirements.
