The automaker also claims MEB+ will &#8220;significantly improve charging times,&#8221; and may feature power rates of up to 175-200 kw.<\/p>\n<p>The MEB+ overhaul follows &#8220;enhancements&#8221; VW confirmed earlier this year were on the way <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1135613_vw-plans-faster-charging-longer-range-higher-power-for-its-meb-platform-for-mass-market-evs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for MEB vehicles<\/a>. The platform itself was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1119032_volkswagen-details-the-foundation-for-10-million-electric-vehicles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first extensively detailed in 2018<\/a>, and the market for EVs has changed a lot since then. It&#8217;s unclear whether VW is referring to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1133500_vw-id-life-concept-previews-24-000-ev-built-on-pared-down-meb-platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ID Life<\/a>, which it previously said was built on a pared-down MEB platform it was calling MEB Small.<\/p>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Two Europe-bound Ford EVs will be underpinned by MEB before then, and in the U.S. we likely have a large electric sedan, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137076_2024-volkswagen-id-buzz-ev-test-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the ID.Buzz van<\/a>, which will launch much later in the U.S. than Europe. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137957_report-return-of-vw-e-golf-possible-after-ev-flagship-delay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A return of the VW e-Golf<\/a> is also reportedly back on the table, after delays for the planned Project Trinity EV flagship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Volkswagen MEB platform that has served as the backbone for the automaker&#8217;s EV push is set to get a number of updates over the next few years.
