Not only did he succeed, but he absolutely obliterated the previous record.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-274727\"\/><ins class=\"adsbygoogle author_ad ad-container adsbygoogle author_ad hide-lg author-in-content\" data-ad-host=\"ca-host-pub-5506057612223327\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8858607207437960\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Australian Raine Kent took his custom-designed electric skateboard up to a top speed of 132.37 km\/h (82.25 mph).<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019d normally be an eye-watering speed on a skateboard, but Kent\u2019s peepers were secured safely behind a full-face racing helmet to match his full-body crash suit.<\/p>\n<p>The top speed was fast enough to snag the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guinnessworldrecords.com\/world-records\/401112-fastest-speed-on-an-electric-skateboard\">Guinness world record<\/a> by a long shot, handily beating out the previous record of 95 km\/h (59 mph).<\/p>\n<p>Kent built his own motors and is patenting the design for future use. He also precisely designed the truck angles on his board to reduce a phenomenon known as \u201cspeed wobbles\u201d, where an electric skateboard can begin to oscillate at higher speeds, often turning into a runaway condition that can lead to a crash.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a risk that comes with the territory, but it doesn\u2019t seem to phase Kent:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\" readability=\"10\">\n<p>\u201cI love the adrenaline rush that you get from e-skateboarding. I began my career in skateboarding in downhill racing so negotiating hills at speed and sliding and now I\u2019ve moved into e-skateboarding. The speed, the adrenaline, the rush \u2014 I love it. It was very scary but exciting at the same time and it was good to achieve something that I had been talking about for so long.
