{"id":40159,"date":"2023-01-12T00:04:01","date_gmt":"2023-01-12T05:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=40159"},"modified":"2023-01-12T00:04:01","modified_gmt":"2023-01-12T05:04:01","slug":"bmw-i4-i7-ix-recall-power-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=40159","title":{"rendered":"BMW i4, i7, And iX Get Recalled Because Power Might Cut Out During Driving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BMW has issued recall notices for a little over 16,000 electric vehicles sold in the United States and Canada, because the high-voltage battery software may malfunction, which results in a loss of power.<\/p>\n<p>The affected models are the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/bmw\/i4\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22bmw%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22i4%22%7D\">i4 sedan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/bmw\/i7\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22bmw%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22i7%22%7D\">i7 flagship luxury sedan<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/bmw\/ix\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22bmw%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ix%22%7D\">iX crossover<\/a>, with a total of 14,086 units in the US and 2,155 in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>According to the recall notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration\u2019s (NHTSA\u2019s) website, the aforementioned vehicles were built \u201cwith a high voltage battery electronic control unit containing software that may, during certain vehicle operating conditions, result in an interruption of electrical power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, power to the wheels might cut out, and it might happen while driving, which is potentially dangerous, increasing the risk of a crash. So the German automaker started an engineering review and found out that there was a warranty claim rate of less than one percent, but it also found five cars in the United States that had the same problem.
