When the ninth and final generation of Galant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/buy\/2004-Mitsubishi-Galant-DE__4dr_Sedan\/review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">appeared for 2004<\/a>, it was a generic-looking <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/toyota\/camry\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">Camry<\/a> rival, enlarged and priced attractively but otherwise not very interesting. Then, for 2007, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/buy\/2007-Mitsubishi-Galant-Ralliart__4dr_Sedan\/review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">a sporty Ralliart version showed up<\/a>. Here&#8217;s one of those rare cars, found in a snowy Colorado self-service yard recently.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/04142517\/42-2007-Mitsubishi-Galant-Ralliart-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mitsubishi-motors.com\/en\/innovation\/ralliart\/?intcid2=top-pickup_0061\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Ralliart is the racing and performance division<\/a> of Mitsubishi Motors, and I&#8217;ve managed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/12\/06\/junkyard-gem-2004-mitsubishi-lancer-ralliart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">to find<\/a> a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2019\/12\/27\/junkyard-gem-2005-mitsubishi-lancer-ralliart-sedan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">Lancer Ralliarts<\/a> during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.murileemartin.com\/JunkyardGalleryHome.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">my junkyard travels<\/a>. I&#8217;d forgotten the existence of the\u00a0<em>Galant<\/em> Ralliart, I must admit, so at first glance I took this car to be an ordinary Galant with <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/mitsubishi\/lancer\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">Lancer<\/a> Ralliart badges pasted on.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/04142450\/04-2007-Mitsubishi-Galant-Ralliart-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Unlike the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/suzuki\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:16;\">Suzuki<\/a> Works Techno badges <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/04\/19\/junkyard-gem-2005-suzuki-aerio-sx-suzuki-works-techno\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:17;\">found on Aerios<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutcars.com\/2020\/03\/junkyard-find-2005-suzuki-reno-swt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:18;\">Renos of the era<\/a>, these Ralliart emblems really did indicate a quicker-than-the-base-model car.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/04142504\/25-2007-Mitsubishi-Galant-Ralliart-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The &#8217;07 Galant Ralliart got a 258-horsepower V6 and a stiffer suspension, plus a few styling touches. It certainly would have been more fun than a new Camry, though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/11\/21\/junkyard-gem-2007-mazda-mazdaspeed6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:19;\">the Mazdaspeed6<\/a> was quicker.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/04142458\/18-2007-Mitsubishi-Galant-Ralliart-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Even the soporific Camry could still be bought <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutcars.com\/cars\/junkyard-editorials\/junkyard-find-2006-toyota-camry-with-manual-transmission-44496468\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:20;\">with a manual transmission<\/a> in 2007, but not the Galant. All the US-market 2004-2012 Galants (which were built in Illinois) came with automatic transmissions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/04142452\/09-2007-Mitsubishi-Galant-Ralliart-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Galant managed to hang on until 2012, by which time it had been largely forgotten by American car shoppers. That&#8217;s too bad, because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutcars.com\/2012\/09\/junkyard-find-1989-mitsubishi-sigma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:21;\">the gadget-packed Galant Sigma four-door hardtops<\/a> of the late 1980s and screaming Galant VR-4s of a bit later were interesting machines. I still haven&#8217;t found a junked VR-4, though I\u00a0<em>have\u00a0<\/em>spotted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutcars.com\/2020\/12\/junkyard-find-1990-mitsubishi-galant-gs-x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:22;\">a discarded Galant GS-X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/800x450\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/04142514\/39-2007-Mitsubishi-Galant-Ralliart-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This one lived fast and died young-ish. Perhaps someone will grab that 6G75 engine to swap into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2017\/11\/27\/junkyard-gem-1986-plymouth-reliant-le-woodie-station-wagon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:23;\">a Chrysler K-Car<\/a>.
