The overall volume decreased nearly 8 percent year-over-year to 1.53 million units, which is the lowest result in 47 years (1.48 million in 1975).<\/p>\n<p>The plug-in electric car market is growing, but relatively slowly. According to <em>L\u2019Avere-France<\/em>, last month some 42,461 new plug-in vehicles were registered in France (up 6 percent year-over-year), including 39,488 passenger plug-in cars (up 2 percent), which represents 25.0 percent of the market (vs. 24.5% a year ago).<\/p>\n<p>The growth comes solely from all-electric cars, as plug-in hybrids were down last month.<\/p>\n<p>New plug-in vehicle registrations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passenger BEVs: 24,944 (up 8%) at 15.8% market share<\/li>\n<li>Passenger PHEVs: 14,544 (down 6%) at 9.2% market share<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial BEVs: 2,937 (up 100%) at 8.9% market share<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial PHEVs: 36 (down 54%)<\/li>\n<li>Total plug-ins: 42,461 (up 6%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-december-2022.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-december-2022.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"916\" height=\"424\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>In 2022, more than 346,000 new plug-in electric cars were registered in France, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/561101\/france-plugin-car-sales-2021\/\">compared to over 315,000 in 2021<\/a>. That 10 percent of growth year-over-year is significantly lower than in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>Registrations year-to-date:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passenger BEVs: 202,929 (up 25%) at 13.3% market share<\/li>\n<li>Passenger PHEVs: 126,547 (down 10%) at 8.3% market share<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial BEVs: 16,810 (up 39%)<\/li>\n<li>Light commercial PHEVs: 563 (up 2%)<\/li>\n<li>Total plug-ins: 346,849 (up 10%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-december-2022-b.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/plug-in-car-sales-in-france-december-2022-b.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"914\" height=\"423\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p><em>*some data on the charts are estimated<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The future remains uncertain as on January 1, 2023, France lowered incentives for new all-electric cars from \u20ac6,000 to \u20ac5,000 ($5,422). Time will tell whether or not it will interrupt the growth.<\/p>\n<section class=\"trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/c.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/c.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"927\" height=\"420\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>The most registered electric model in December was the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/dacia\/\">Dacia<\/a> Spring (2,800), followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/model-3\/\">Tesla Model 3<\/a> (2,675), <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/renault\/\">Renault<\/a> Megane E-Tech (2,534) and <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/model-y\/\">Tesla Model Y<\/a> (2,493).<\/p>\n<p>In the full year, the best-selling all-electric model was the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/peugeot\/e208\/\">Peugeot e-208<\/a> (19,220), closely followed by the Dacia Spring (18,326).
