But it seems to be pretty much the same under the hood. <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hyundai\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">Hyundai<\/a> revealed powertrain details specifically for the Korean-market <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hyundai\/kona\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Kona<\/a> \u2013 and likely for the U.S.-market version \u2013 and all the internal-combustion engines are the same as what we&#8217;ve seen in the U.S. model.<\/p>\n<p>The base engine remains the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. It continues to use a CVT to send power to the wheels. Available as an upgrade is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder making 195 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Hyundai didn&#8217;t specify a transmission, but it will almost certainly be the familiar seven-speed dual-clutch.<\/p>\n<p>While the Kona hybrid is a new addition, the powertrain doesn&#8217;t seem to be. It&#8217;s a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder paired with an electric motor and six-speed automatic. With 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, it&#8217;s pretty clearly the same unit from the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hyundai\/elantra\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">Hyundai Elantra<\/a> hybrid and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/04\/13\/2023-kia-niro-ny-auto-show-debut\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">Kia Niro<\/a> <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hybrid\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">hybrid<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One Kona variant is still lacking details, and that&#8217;s the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hyundai\/kona+electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Kona Electric<\/a>. Hyundai said it will have more information on that in March. Odds are, it will continue to use the same 201-horsepower front-mounted electric motor as the current model, which is also in the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/kia\/niro\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Kia Niro<\/a>.
