The automaker also regularly uses Weibo, but that has always been the case as a different team handles Chinese communications.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Tesla also ramped up its blog posting effort. Before September, Tesla had only posted two blog posts in 2022 \u2013 one to introduce track mode in Plaid vehicles, and one to defend itself against a California Department of Fair Employment and Housing\u00a0lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>But from September until this month, Tesla published six blog posts on its website.<\/p>\n<p>The timing of this change appears to match CEO Elon Musk becoming increasingly controversial.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few months, surveys have shown that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/12\/12\/tesla-becoming-partisan-brand-survey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tesla\u2019s reputation has been going down<\/a>, and the stock price is crashing further than the rest of the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Many people have associated the trend with Musk becoming increasingly political on Twitter and alienating a big part of Tesla\u2019s userbase \u2013 namely liberals \u2013 who buy EVs at a much higher rate than the conservatives.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-electrek-s-take\">Electrek\u2019s Take<\/h2>\n<p>Musk was always the defacto Tesla spokesperson, but when Tesla had a global PR department, the automaker had much stronger public communications that didn\u2019t have to always go through the CEO.<\/p>\n<p>Since dissolving the PR department, Musk\u2019s Twitter page has become the source of 99% of Tesla\u2019s official communications.<\/p>\n<p>It makes sense for the company to build a stronger voice of its own as many people don\u2019t feel like following Musk on the social media platform.<\/p>\n<p>If you were there for his frequent updates and comments about Tesla products, those are now are few and far between Musk\u2019s political comments, conspiracy theories, and concerns about the \u201cwoke mind virus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I am going to get excited about Musk on Twitter once he seems to be more excited about Tesla launching the Cybertruck than the next QAnon drop. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s obviously a joke, but sometimes his Twitter feels like that.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-disclaimer-container\" readability=\"6.3518518518519\">\n<p class=\"disclaimer-affiliate\"><em>FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/about\/#affiliate\">More.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- post ad --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Data shows that Tesla has significantly ramped up its own external communications over the last few months as Elon Musk becomes more controversial.
