These big, boxy <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-finder\/luxury-sedan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">luxury sedans<\/a> were replaced by big, curvy luxury sedans (on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ford_Panther_platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">the same platform<\/a>) starting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/11\/24\/junkyard-gem-1992-mercury-grand-marquis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">with the 1992 model year<\/a>, so today&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.murileemartin.com\/JunkyardGalleryHome.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Junkyard Gem<\/a> is one of the very last squared-off Grand Marquises ever built.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1600x900\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2022\/12\/05145237\/44-1991-Mercury-Grand-Marquis-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The 1991 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/mercury\/grand+marquis\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Grand Marquis<\/a> (or &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/BoneAppleTea\/comments\/c8a8ru\/grandma_keith\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">Grandma Keith<\/a>,&#8221; as many refer to it today) looks nearly identical to its 1979 predecessor at a glance, just as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2010\/05\/28\/mercury-shut-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">the 2011 model<\/a> doesn&#8217;t differ much from the 1992 model. This engine was rated at 180 horsepower.
