{"id":41171,"date":"2023-01-25T06:03:47","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T11:03:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=41171"},"modified":"2023-01-25T06:03:47","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T11:03:47","slug":"rivian-solar-powered-ev-charger-in-tennessee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=41171","title":{"rendered":"Rivian Opens Its First Solar-Powered EV Chargers In Tennessee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rivian and solar company Clearloop have switched on the American EV maker\u2019s first solar-powered electric vehicle chargers in the small town of Paris, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>With a population of around 10,000 people, the city that has a 70-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, is the first in the United States to benefit from <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/rivian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Rivian<\/a>\u2019s solar-powered EV charging stations.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed <em>Waypoints<\/em>, Rivian\u2019s top-up stalls are powered by a nearby solar farm that has a total capacity of 1 megawatt (MW), with the company aiming to further finance a larger 6.75 MW project that will power all Waypoints chargers in the state.<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p>\u201cWhat that means is that we are connecting the dots between a charging station for electric vehicles brought by Rivian, which makes electric SUVs and electric trucks right here in the US, and the solar project that is going up in Henry County,\u201d said Laura Zapata, the CEO of Clearloop for the local TV news station.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Paris, Tennessee chargers are equipped with J1772 plugs, which means other EVs can top up their batteries here, not just Rivians, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbbjtv.com\/2023\/01\/20\/electric-vehicle-charger-installed-a-west-tennessee-park\/pic\/1300009\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">local news report<\/a> showed with the help of a <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/hyundai\/ioniq-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Hyundai Ioniq 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n<section class=\"embed-item trinity-skip-it\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"embed\" data-embed-code=\"%3Cblockquote%20class%3D%22twitter-tweet%22%3E%3Cp%20lang%3D%22en%22%20dir%3D%22ltr%22%3EA%20new%20electric%20vehicle%20charging%20station%20has%20been%20set%20up%20in%20a%20West%20Tennessee%20park%2C%20and%20it%20got%20its%20first%20charge%20on%20Friday!%20%3Ca%20href%3D%22https%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2FZ2NCoduq5H%22%3Ehttps%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2FZ2NCoduq5H%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%26mdash%3B%20WBBJ7News%20(%40WBBJ7News)%20%3Ca%20href%3D%22https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FWBBJ7News%2Fstatus%2F1616788195227598851%3Fref_src%3Dtwsrc%255Etfw%22%3EJanuary%2021%2C%202023%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Fblockquote%3E%20%3Cscript%20async%20src%3D%22https%3A%2F%2Fplatform.twitter.com%2Fwidgets.js%22%20charset%3D%22utf-8%22%3E%3C%2Fscript%3E%20\">\u00a0<\/section>\n<p>Rivian\u2019s Waypoints EV stalls are now deployed in 11 state parks in Tennessee:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Radnor Lake<\/li>\n<li>Cumberland Mountain<\/li>\n<li>South Cumberland<\/li>\n<li>Montgomery Bell<\/li>\n<li>Cove Lake<\/li>\n<li>Indian Mountain<\/li>\n<li>Meeman-Shelby Forest<\/li>\n<li>Natchez Trace<\/li>\n<li>Warrior\u2019s Path<\/li>\n<li>Fall Creek Falls<\/li>\n<li>Pickwick Landing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Rivian, the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/521692\/rivian-charging-partnership-tennessee-parks\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22521692%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22rivian-charging-partnership-tennessee-parks%22%7D\">Waypoints<\/a> chargers are Level 2 stations open to all EVs, capable of delivering up to 11.5 kW of power, located \u201cat shops, restaurants, hotels, parks and more.\u201d They\u2019re powered by 100 percent renewable energy and the American company aims to install over 10,000 of them across the US and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Rivian\u2019s more powerful charging network is exclusive to its vehicles and is called the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/594856\/first-rivian-adventure-network-dc-chargers\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22594856%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22first-rivian-adventure-network-dc-chargers%22%7D\">Rivian Adventure Network<\/a>, which consists of stalls capable of delivering direct current (DC) at rates of up to 200 kW (and over 300 kW in the future).
