{"id":43570,"date":"2023-02-24T00:02:46","date_gmt":"2023-02-24T05:02:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=43570"},"modified":"2023-02-24T00:02:46","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T05:02:46","slug":"geely-galaxy-ev-luxury-sub-brand-debuts-light-bev-study-l7-phev","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=43570","title":{"rendered":"Geely&#8217;s Galaxy EV Luxury Brand Debuts Light BEV Study, L7 PHEV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China&#8217;s Geely Auto officially launched the new Galaxy electrified vehicle luxury brand at an event in Hangzhou earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>The automaker has great ambitions for the new vehicle line, which will include a total of seven highly efficient models within the next two years \u2013 four long-range plug-in hybrids and three battery electric vehicles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Two vehicles were showcased at the event: the Galaxy L7 plug-in hybrid SUV, which is a production model, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/633407\/geely-new-electric-sedan-teased-china\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22633407%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22geely-new-electric-sedan-teased-china%22%7D\">Galaxy Light fully electric concept<\/a>. The first to launch will be two plug-in hybrids: the Galaxy L7 SUV in the second quarter of 2023 followed by the L6 sedan \u2013 which wasn&#8217;t revealed \u2013 in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>As for the all-electric models, the first to arrive will be the Galaxy E8 flagship, scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2023. Geely didn&#8217;t say it specifically, but the spectacular Galaxy Light concept likely previews the new brand&#8217;s first production EV.<\/p>\n<p>The Galaxy series is said to integrate Geely&#8217;s global car development capabilities, with its BEV products utilizing a dedicated smart electrified architecture \u2013 likely derived from the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/459901\/geely-sea-ev-platform\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22459901%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22geely-sea-ev-platform%22%7D\">SEA EV platform<\/a> \u2013 and the PHEV models utilizing the E-CMA platform \u2013 which is already used by models including the Lynk&amp;Co 01, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/632828\/2024-polestar-gains-rwd-variant-more-power-range\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22632828%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%222024-polestar-gains-rwd-variant-more-power-range%22%7D\">Polestar 2<\/a>, and Volvo XC40 Recharge.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see in the photo gallery, Geely&#8217;s Galaxy models will feature a futuristic new design language created specifically for the brand. The interior is loaded with tech, with highlights including a massive display spanning almost the entire width of the dashboard, innovative mood lighting and translucent materials.<\/p>\n<p>The giant touchscreen runs on a new smart vehicle operating system called Galaxy N-OS, which is powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 8155 vehicle chip. <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/geely\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Geely<\/a> says the operating system enables &#8220;the fastest system startup and response time in its class, only taking 0.5 seconds to reach a ready operational state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>By 2025, Geely Holding Group expects to complete the launch of its 72-satellite network, providing full global coverage for Galaxy models for &#8220;centimeter accurate precision positioning&#8221; and &#8220;high-precision maps to assist in intelligent driving functionality.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At the event, Geely also provided details about the latest-generation NordThor Hybrid 8848 powertrain featuring a peak thermal efficiency of 44.26 percent.
