Indeed, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">Volkswagen<\/a> has just confirmed that the all-electric vehicle will be constructed at a new, from-the-ground-up VW-owned plant in the U.S. and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/05\/11\/vw-scout-electric-truck\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">will launch in 2026<\/a> with a <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/truck\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">truck<\/a> and likely be followed with an SUV.<\/p>\n<p>In VW-speak, a company statement says, \u201cThe decision to pull up the plant ourselves is available as a draft resolution and has thus been made.\u201d In other words, it\u2019s an official go, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.automobilwoche.de\/bc-online\/exklusiv-volkswagen-baut-komplett-neues-werk-den-usa\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">a report in <em>Automobilwoche,<\/em><\/a> which says it had learned from company circles that <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">VW<\/a> is no longer considering Foxconn or Magna for making its Scout in America.<\/p>\n<p>The Scout name was acquired in 2021 by VW, but its history dates back to the 1960s, when International Harvester Corporation (IHC) built the Scout as a competitor to the popular <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/jeep\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">Jeep<\/a> brand. Last year the Germans named Scott Keogh, who then was head of Volkswagen of America, to run the new marque. Keogh formerly was in charge of <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/audi\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Audi<\/a> of America.<\/p>\n<p><em>Automobilwoche<\/em> had reported in November that the carmaker was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/11\/29\/vw-foxconn-scout\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">in talks with Foxconn<\/a>, which has expanded into building <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">electric vehicles<\/a> for auto brands, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/10\/11\/vw-magna-international-harvester-scout\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Magna International subsidiary Magna Steyr<\/a>, about partnering on a \u00a0joint plant.
