The company reportedly plans to build on that momentum with a high-performance variant of the SUV, bolstering its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/08\/31\/ralliart-return-2023-autoblog\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">newly revived Ralliart performance division<\/a> in the process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wait, a non-luxury performance SUV? Well, if any company can pull it off it would be Mitsubishi. It has the history of its <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/wrc\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">WRC<\/a> victories and Paris-Dakar Rally dominance to build on. Nearly its entire racing heritage has been forged on dirt, not tarmac, so a hotted-up Mitsu SUV doesn&#8217;t seem so farfetched.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/japan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Japan&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/bestcarweb.jp\/news\/scoop\/595124\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\"><em>Best Car<\/em><\/a> magazine, the all-out Outlander will be based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/01\/11\/mitsubishi-vision-ralliart-concept-tokyo-auto-salon\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">Outlander Vision Ralliart concept<\/a> shown over a year ago at the 2022 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tokyo-auto-salon\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Tokyo Auto Salon<\/a>. The model will supposedly be called the Outlander PHEV Ralliart, and will feature extensive tuning to set it apart from the standard version.<\/p>\n<p><em>Best Car<\/em> reports that the chassis will be reinforced to increase body rigidity. Mitsubishi will also strengthen the suspension and visually distinguish it with unique aero bits. What that may be isn&#8217;t specified, but the Auto Salon concept had wider fenders in front and rear, a new front grille and bumper, and big diffuser beneath a redesigned rear fascia. The concept also came with larger rotors and six-piston calipers in front.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 0.99em;\">The Outlander PHEV Ralliart&#8217;s drivetrain, says <em>Best Car<\/em>, will based on the 2.4-liter plug-in hybrid setup on the base car. However, combined power between gasoline and hybrid systems will total an estimated 286 horsepower.<br \/> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Finally, the magazine predicts that the <span style=\"font-size: 0.99em;\">Outlander PHEV Ralliart will arrive in 2024. Japanese pricing is approximated at <\/span>\u00a55.5 to 6.1 million, which converts to $40,300 to $44,700 at current exchange rates, but we expect it to be closer to the high end of that range.<\/p>\n<p>With <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/crossover\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">crossovers and SUVs<\/a> as the de facto car these days, it was only a matter of time before mainstream marques began souping up such daily drivers. If <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/honda\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Honda<\/a> can create an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2023\/02\/17\/honda-cr-v-hybrid-racecar-teaser\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">800-horsepower CR-V race car<\/a>, a sports Outlander seems only natural.
