{"id":43724,"date":"2023-02-26T10:53:31","date_gmt":"2023-02-26T15:53:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=43724"},"modified":"2023-02-26T10:53:31","modified_gmt":"2023-02-26T15:53:31","slug":"tesla-cybertruck-refined-with-new-black-tonneau-cover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=43724","title":{"rendered":"Tesla Cybertruck is starting to look more refined with new black tonneau cover"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"img-border featured-image\">\n\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"skip-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/02\/Tesla-Cybertruck-black-tonneau-cover.jpg?quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/02\/Tesla-Cybertruck-black-tonneau-cover.jpg?w=320&amp;quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;ssl=1 320w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/02\/Tesla-Cybertruck-black-tonneau-cover.jpg?w=640&amp;quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;ssl=1 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/02\/Tesla-Cybertruck-black-tonneau-cover.jpg?w=1024&amp;quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/02\/Tesla-Cybertruck-black-tonneau-cover.jpg?w=1500&amp;quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;ssl=1 1500w\" width=\"1600\" height=\"799\" alt=\"Tesla Cybertruck black tonneau cover\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p>A Tesla Cybertruck prototype was spotted with a new black tonneau cover as the electric pickup truck is starting to look more refined as it gets closer to production.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-284807\"\/><ins class=\"adsbygoogle author_ad ad-container adsbygoogle author_ad hide-lg author-in-content\" data-ad-host=\"ca-host-pub-5506057612223327\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4655152367470280\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As we previously reported, Tesla has built a fleet of Beta Cybertruck prototypes to test ahead of the start of production this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few weeks, we started spotting those Cybertruck prototypes around California.<\/p>\n<p>Every time we see a new prototype, we try to see new design features that might end up in the production version \u2013 like <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2023\/02\/09\/tesla-cybertruck-spotted-with-new-front-end-and-monstrous-wiper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an updated front-end and the monstrous wiper<\/a> coming back on a recent sighting or <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2023\/02\/22\/tesla-cybertruck-air-suspension-spotted-in-potato-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the jacked-up air suspension<\/a> spotted a few days ago.<\/p>\n<p>Now a new sighting, this time aerial, gives us a great look at the top of the Cybertruck, which appears to feature a new black tonneau cover:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignwide is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>Many recent Tesla Cybertruck prototypes didn\u2019t have a bed cover and this one appears to be darker than those previously spotted.<\/p>\n<p>It could potentially be the production one.<\/p>\n<p>The tonneau cover is supposed to be automatically retractable and robust enough for someone to be able to stand on it.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, it is supposed to also have solar cells in it \u2013 or at least to have an option for solar cells in it.<\/p>\n<p>After the launch of the Cybertruck, CEO Elon Musk surprised many when he said that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2019\/11\/22\/tesla-cybertruck-solar-roof-option-add-range\/\">Tesla\u2019s new electric pickup truck will have a solar roof option that will add 15 miles of range per day<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Tesla filed for <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/05\/27\/tesla-cybertruck-retractable-solar-bed-cover-revealed-patent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a patent that showed the solar cells will be embedded inside the retractable tonneau cover<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla recently said that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2023\/01\/26\/tesla-updates-cybertruck-production-timeline-temper-expectations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it aims to bring the Cybertruck to production this summer<\/a>, but we shouldn\u2019t expect significant deliveries until 2024, when the automaker will ramp up to volume production.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-electrek-s-take\">Electrek\u2019s Take<\/h2>\n<p>I doubt that this particular prototype features solar cells. If Tesla still plans to bring that as an option, I would assume that it wouldn\u2019t launch at the same time as the Cybertruck.<\/p>\n<p>It would likely become an option later after Tesla has ramped up to volume production.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, it\u2019s nice to see a Cybertruck that looks almost complete driving around on the road.
