There were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.murileemartin.com\/Junkyard\/JunkyardGallery-Isuzu.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Isuzu cars<\/a>, sure, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/08\/07\/junkyard-gem-1984-isuzu-pup-longbed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">the P&#8217;up pickup<\/a> and (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=53I_5tgMd7E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">starting in 1984<\/a>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/09\/09\/junkyard-gem-1996-isuzu-trooper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">the Trooper SUV<\/a> showed that Isuzu was likely to rake in the most yen by selling <em><a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/truck\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">trucks<\/a><\/em> on this side of the Pacific. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/photos\/junked-1992-isuzu-amigo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">three-door convertible Amigo<\/a> appeared here in 1989, but it was a little too small and silly to sell much among the suburban-commuter set. For the 1991 model year, a five-door <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/isuzu\/amigo\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Amigo<\/a> sibling showed up: the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/isuzu\/rodeo\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">Rodeo<\/a>. The early Rodeo is getting quite rare today, but I was able to find this fairly clean &#8217;94 in a Denver-area self-service yard a few months back.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114902\/27-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>These trucks, which were based on the same chassis as the P&#8217;up (known as the Isuzu Pickup after 1987) sold well in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114923\/57-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You could get the first-generation Rodeo with rear-wheel-drive, but the four-wheel-drive version made more sense if you wanted to slog through snow and mud in the Rockies (or just feel safe when crossing a parking lot dusted with the white stuff).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114926\/59-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This truck has true four-wheel-drive, not what eventually became known as\u00a0<em>all-<\/em>wheel-drive, but at least the higher trim levels had automatic locking hubs instead of the manual sort that forced you to stop and kneel in the mud to switch.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114909\/38-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Americans loved automatic transmissions nearly as much in 1994 as we do today, but they cost a lot more relative to manuals back then. This truck has a five-speed manual.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114918\/50-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The MSRP on this truck was $19,249, or about $39,075 in 2022 dollars. If you wanted it with an automatic transmission, the price went up to $20,349 ($41,310 today). The air conditioning in this one cost an additional 850 bucks (1,725 bucks now).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114856\/23-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The engine is an Isuzu 3.2-liter V6, rated at 175 horsepower.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114844\/05-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This truck was built at Subaru-Isuzu Automotive in Indiana; <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/subaru\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">Subaru<\/a> eventually bought out Isuzu&#8217;s share of the joint venture and now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.subaru-sia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">only Subaru models are built there<\/a>. Just to add another manufacturer to the mix, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/honda\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">Honda<\/a> sold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/11\/20\/junkyard-gem-2000-honda-passport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:16;\">rebadged Rodeos with Passport badges<\/a> (and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2018\/11\/27\/junkyard-gem-1997-acura-slx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:17;\">rebadged Troopers as Acura SLXs<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114848\/11-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This one was well-cared-for, looking clean for a machine with close to 200,000 miles on the clock.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114905\/32-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We can assume that some costly mechanical ailment finally sent it to this, its final parking place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full\" src=\"https:\/\/o.aolcdn.com\/images\/dims3\/GLOB\/legacy_thumbnail\/1200x675\/format\/jpg\/quality\/85\/https:\/\/s.aolcdn.com\/os\/ab\/_cms\/2023\/01\/12114921\/56-1994-Isuzu-Rodeo-in-Colorado-junkyard-photo-by-Murilee-Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s getting difficult to find discarded vehicles in the Denver area that\u00a0<em>don&#8217;t<\/em> have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoweek.com\/car-life\/but-wait-theres-more\/a2145856\/its-always-420-colorado-junkyard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:18;\">at least one cannabis-business-related sticker somewhere<\/a>.
