The automaker has also confirmed that the production EV9 will have a range of up to 300 miles.<\/p>\n<p>It may also be U.S.-built\u2014eventually. Production might be shifted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137620_kia-evs-us-made-at-hyundai-georgia-metaplant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hyundai&#8217;s Georgia &#8220;Metaplant,&#8221;<\/a> when that plant is up and running around 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The EV9 will be the largest vehicle yet to be designed and built on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1130487_ev-platform-hyundai-kia-genesis-bi-directional-charging-robotaxi-ready\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">E-GMP dedicated electric vehicle platform<\/a> shared by Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, although the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7 could rival it.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, when it confirmed that prototypes were out testing, Kia said that the EV9 &#8220;will become the brand&#8217;s flagship model and will revolutionize the large electric SUV segment&#8221;\u2014setting the stage for a price that might just approach luxury vehicles.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100815783_m\" title=\"Kia EV9 concept\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Kia EV9 concept\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"680\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/kia-ev9-concept_100815783_l.jpg\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/kia-ev9-concept_100815783_h.jpg\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/kia-ev9-concept_100815783_l.jpg\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/kia-ev9-concept_100815783_l.jpg\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/kia-ev9-concept_100815783_m.jpg\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/kia-ev9-concept_100815783_s.jpg\" class=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Kia EV9 concept<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Kia may be able to justify a higher price by targeting the Rivian R1S, the only other electric SUV currently available that combines off-road capability and three-row seating. The U.S. firm has struggled to ramp up production to meet high demand.<\/p>\n<p>The EV9&#8217;s built-in off-road prowess and more outdoorsy emphasis could serve another purpose as well.
