The automaker announced Friday it was appointing a new CEO to address the \u201cprofound transformation\u201d to EVs in the auto industry, following a similar move from Toyota recently.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-286000\"\/><ins class=\"adsbygoogle author_ad ad-container adsbygoogle author_ad hide-lg author-in-content\" data-ad-host=\"ca-host-pub-5506057612223327\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9669137141129422\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-subaru-appoints-new-ceo-to-accelerate-ev-transition\">Subaru appoints new CEO to accelerate EV transition<\/h2>\n<p>Subaru appointed Atsushi Osaki as CEO and president Friday as the company overhauls its management structure to accelerate its EV efforts and remain competitive. <\/p>\n<p>Osaki will take the reigns from Tomomi Nakamura, who has served as Subaru\u2019s leader since June 2018 and navigated it through the pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>Going forward, the company said, Subaru will \u201cformulate a new management vision,\u201d which will be finalized for the shareholder meeting in June. Osaki previously served as director and EVP of the manufacturing division.<\/p>\n<p>Although Nakamura initiated Subaru\u2019s EV efforts, introducing the automaker\u2019s first electric vehicle, the <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/04\/25\/subaru-solterra-pricing-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Subaru Solterra<\/a>, the rollout has been less than stellar, to put it nicely.
