{"id":44328,"date":"2023-03-06T12:03:43","date_gmt":"2023-03-06T17:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=44328"},"modified":"2023-03-06T12:03:43","modified_gmt":"2023-03-06T17:03:43","slug":"1138951_honda-plans-ev-division-hints-at-tesla-like-charging-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=44328","title":{"rendered":"Honda plans EV division, hints at Tesla-like charging network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After dragging its feet on battery-electric vehicles for years, Honda is now about to jump into the segment in a big way.<\/p>\n<p>The automaker in 2024 will launch its first volume EV, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1137392_2024-honda-prologue-previews-automaker-s-electric-future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SUV called the Prologue<\/a>, which is being developed on General Motors&#8217; Ultium platform and battery technology set. GM will also build the Prologue for Honda, as well as another electric SUV, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1138209_2024-acura-zdx-type-s-teased\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the ZDX<\/a>, for Honda&#8217;s upmarket Acura brand.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Honda will then focus on the launch of new EVs based on an in-house developed platform, the e:Architecture, starting in 2026. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1135502_gm-and-honda-to-collaborate-on-affordable-evs-arriving-from-2027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A line of affordable EVs<\/a> based on an additional platform co-developed with GM as part of an extended collaboration between the two automakers will follow in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>There is also the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1138340_sony-honda-ev-brand-called-afeela-launches-with-sedan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new EV brand Afeela<\/a> that Honda is developing with Sony.
