{"id":47637,"date":"2023-04-18T09:03:56","date_gmt":"2023-04-18T13:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=47637"},"modified":"2023-04-18T09:03:56","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T13:03:56","slug":"us-porsche-taycan-sales-2023q1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=47637","title":{"rendered":"US: Porsche Taycan Sales Down 21% In Q1 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the first quarter of 2023, Porsche delivered in the United States 17,440 cars, which is nearly 34 percent more than a year ago and the highest result in Q1 so far.<\/p>\n<p>However, the company appears to be struggling with all-electric car sales &#8211; despite <em>&#8220;strong demand.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In Q1, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/porsche\/\">Porsche<\/a> sold 1,527 <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/porsche\/taycan\/\">Porsche Taycan<\/a> electric cars (all versions), which means a 20.7 percent decrease year-over-year because <em>&#8220;lingering component issues slowed deliveries.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0The good news is that the volume improved slightly, compared to Q3 and Q4 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of PCNA explains: <em>&#8220;Despite such strong demand and records, we\u2019re still feeling some of the supply chain issues affecting the whole industry.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to Porsche, all-electric car sales represent 8.8 percent of the total volume, while together with plug-in hybrids, the share was 11.5 percent. This means that plug-in hybrids represent 2.7 percent or about 470 units. Unfortunately, Porsche doesn&#8217;t reveal sales for the plug-in hybrid Panamera and Cayenne.<\/p>\n<p>Porsche plug-in car sales:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BEVs: 1,527 (down 20.7% year-over-year) and 8.8% share<\/li>\n<li>PHEVs: estimated 470 and 2.7% share<\/li>\n<li>Total: estimated 1,997 and 11.5% share<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/porsche-taycan-sales-in-the-us-in-q1-2023.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/porsche-taycan-sales-in-the-us-in-q1-2023.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"906\" height=\"427\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>For reference, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/630882\/us-porsche-taycan-sales-2022q4\/\">in 2022, Porsche Taycan deliveries in the US amounted to 7,271 (10.4 percent of the total)<\/a>, which was 23 percent less than in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Cumulatively, Porsche Taycan deliveries exceeded 22,700 (since Q4 2019).<\/p>\n<section contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"special_image\" data-align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"spi_wrapper\"><a class=\"lightzoom\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/porsche-taycan-sales-in-the-us-in-q1-2023-b.png\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"custom-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/custom\/thumbnail\/porsche-taycan-sales-in-the-us-in-q1-2023-b.png\" alt=\"external_image\" width=\"894\" height=\"428\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>This year, besides ongoing supply issues, Porsche Taycan is no longer eligible for federal tax credit ($7,500), which additionally will make sales slightly more difficult. The incentive is not as important as in the case of the mainstream models, but it&#8217;s a negative factor.<\/p>\n<p>In the not-too-distant future, the Porsche Taycan (Taycan, Taycan Cross Turismo and Taycan Sport Turismo) will be joined by a higher-volume, all-electric Porsche Macan.
