The <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/maserati\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maserati<\/a> Grecale Folgore electric SUV was introduced to the world Tuesday at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-294513\"\/><ins class=\"adsbygoogle author_ad ad-container adsbygoogle author_ad hide-lg author-in-content\" data-ad-host=\"ca-host-pub-5506057612223327\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9669137141129422\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Maserati, under parent company <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/stellantis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stellantis<\/a>, is transitioning its lineup to include an electric version of every model by 2025. <\/p>\n<p>As part of Stellantis\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/03\/01\/electric-jeep-and-ram-1500-bev-teased-in-stellantiss-dare-forward-2030-strategy-to-become-carbon-neutral-by-2038\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dare Forward 2030<\/a>\u201d strategic plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038, the entire Maserati range of vehicles will be fully electric. As of right now, all the performance luxury brand\u2019s new models are being made 100% in Italy and are adopting electric powertrains. <\/p>\n<p>The brand\u2019s first electric vehicle, as part of its Forlgore strategy, the <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2022\/10\/03\/maserati-shares-new-details-of-electric-granturismo-folgore-priced-around-170k\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new Granturismo<\/a>, utilizes a platform derived from <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/formula-e\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Formula E<\/a> alongside a \u201cT-bone\u201d layout removing all battery cells from under the passengers. <\/p>\n<p>According to Maserati, the unique battery layout enhances weight distribution while maintaining a low center of gravity (sitting at just 1.353 mm high) to optimize performance and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The GranTurismo\u2019s 800V battery system powers three 300 kW electric motors \u2013 one in the front and two in the rear \u2013 delivering up to 750 horsepower and 1,350 Nm of torque.<\/p>\n<p>Designed for \u201cgrand touring,\u201d the electric performance car features up to 279 miles range (450 km) and fast charge capabilities that can add 62 miles (100 km) in roughly five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Maserati doesn\u2019t leave its racing roots behind with the Granturismo Folgore\u2019s ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 km\/h) in 2.7 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>At the Shangai Auto Show, Maserati introduced its second fully electric vehicle and first electric SUV, the Grecale Folgore, to the world.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?quality=82&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1\" class=\"wp-image-294537\" srcset=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg 1400w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?resize=150,75 150w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?resize=300,150 300w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?resize=768,384 768w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?resize=1024,512 1024w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?resize=350,175 350w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?resize=140,70 140w, https:\/\/electrek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/Maserati-first-electric-SUV-1.jpeg?resize=290,145 290w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Maserati Grecale Folgore electric SUV next to GranTurismo EV (Source: Maserati)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-maserati-shows-off-its-first-electric-grecale-folgore-suv\">Maserati shows off its first electric Grecale Folgore SUV<\/h2>\n<p>Maserati displayed the electric SUV alongside the new Granturismo coupe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maserati.com\/global\/en\/news\/maserati-shanghai-auto-show-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">for the first time<\/a> to the Asian market.<\/p>\n<p>The mid-size electric SUV will be equipped with a 105 kWh battery capacity unlocking 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque and over 500 horsepower.<\/p>\n<p>Maserati also says the Grecale will be \u201con top of its segment\u201d when it comes to highway autonomy, with few other details to back up the claim.<\/p>\n<p>The luxury brands CEO, David Grasso, is excited about the company\u2019s electric future, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\" readability=\"11\">\n<p>It\u2019s a defining moment for the Maserati brand. Today, we\u2019re in China at the Shanghai Auto Show; we\u2019re in Italy for the cosmopolitan Milano Design Week event; we\u2019re all over the world celebrating the future: it\u2019s a new beginning for the brand. We\u2019re celebrating Folgore, the electrification plan that has become a reality and is ready to pave the way in this revolutionary era. I\u2019m very excited to be here in Shanghai, which is not only an international exhibition but also a global platform for innovation and the ideal place to unveil the first electric models in the history of Maserati.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On the inside, the Grecale inherits Maserati\u2019s traditional luxury style with ad-hoc seat material. In addition, the interior features Econyl, a material produced out of recycled fishing nets recovered from the ocean and laser cut to \u201cbreathe new life\u201d into Maserati\u2019s first electric SUV. <\/p>\n<p>The special copper color, Rame Folgor, highlights the SUV\u2019s electric power and the \u201caudacious nature\u201d of the brand. <\/p>\n<p>More information on Maserati\u2019s first all-electric SUV is expected as we approach its launch.
