{"id":47773,"date":"2023-04-19T12:03:40","date_gmt":"2023-04-19T16:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=47773"},"modified":"2023-04-19T12:03:40","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T16:03:40","slug":"1139302_tesla-price-cut-april-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=47773","title":{"rendered":"Tesla slashes prices again, Model 3 now costs $41,380"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla has introduced a new round of price cuts, the sixth time it has done so this year.<\/p>\n<p>The new pricing, which comes ahead of the company&#8217;s first quarter earnings to be announced later today, is listed on the company&#8217;s website and brings the Model 3&#8217;s starting price to $41,380, down $2,000 from the previous starting price that was only introduced in early April.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>For the Model Y, the starting price is now $48,380, or $3,000 less than before. The Long Range and Performance grades have also seen $3,000 price cuts, with their starting prices coming in at $51,380 and $55,380, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>This follows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1138433_tesla-price-drop-january-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January price cuts of up to 20%<\/a> across Tesla&#8217;s lineup. Tesla then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1138959_tesla-lowers-model-s-and-model-x-prices-again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lowered Model S and Model X prices<\/a> in March, and again in April, bringing the starting price of the S down to $86,380 and the price of the X down to $96,380.<\/p>\n<p>All figures mentioned include a $1,390 destination charge.<\/p>\n<p>While some of Tesla&#8217;s lineup is still eligible for the full $7,500 in federal tax credits, Tesla notes that the Model 3 with rear-wheel drive only qualifies for $3,750 in credits due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139390_which-american-made-evs-qualify-for-full-7-500-tax-credit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new rules introduced on Tuesday<\/a> that take into account sourcing of critical minerals and battery components.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla delivered 422,875 vehicles in the first quarter of 2023. While that total was 4% higher than the previous quarter and 36% higher year-over-year, it also marked the second quarter in a row in which Tesla produced significantly more vehicles than it delivered to customers.<\/p>\n<p>In February, market analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1138675_the-ev-price-war-is-here-and-its-no-pain-no-gain-for-automakers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">predicted an EV price war<\/a>, but outside of Tesla, prices have mostly held steady. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1138604_ford-mustang-mach-e-prices-dropped-production-increased-to-130-000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ford Mustang Mach-E<\/a> received a price cut of up to $5,900 in January, and more recently Ford <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1139212_ford-f-150-lightning-receives-fourth-price-increase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raised prices on the F-150 Lightning<\/a> pickup truck for a fourth time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla has introduced a new round of price cuts, the sixth time it has done so this year.
