On the company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/662983\/tesla-q1-2023-earnings\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22662983%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22tesla-q1-2023-earnings%22%7D\">Q1 2023 earnings call<\/a> on April 19, CEO Elon Musk said Tesla is willing to sacrifice profit for higher volumes in the short term, reiterating the carmaker&#8217;s commitment to price cuts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve taken the view that pushing for higher volumes and a larger fleet is the right choice here versus a lower volume and higher margin,&#8221; Musk said, according to <em>Automotive News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Investors and analysts asked Musk more than half dozen questions about Tesla&#8217;s price cuts after the company slashed prices six times this year alone. According to <em>Insider<\/em>, one of the questions prompted Musk to make a stunning admission.<\/p>\n<p>He said <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/tesla\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Tesla<\/a> could technically even sell its products for &#8220;zero profit&#8221; and that the company could instead make money in the future through its autonomous software.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p>&#8220;Tesla is in a uniquely strong strategic position because we&#8217;re the only ones making cars that technically we could sell for zero profit for now and then yield actually tremendous economics in the future through autonomy.
