{"id":47985,"date":"2023-04-22T00:03:50","date_gmt":"2023-04-22T04:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=47985"},"modified":"2023-04-22T00:03:50","modified_gmt":"2023-04-22T04:03:50","slug":"1139442_mclaren-s-new-design-chief-previously-worked-at-aston-martin-bugatti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=47985","title":{"rendered":"McLaren&#8217;s new design chief previously worked at Aston Martin, Bugatti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>McLaren Automotive on Friday named Tobias S\u00fchlmann as its new chief design officer.<\/p>\n<p>He replaces Rob Melville who left McLaren last year to join Ceer, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1137746_oil-giant-saudi-arabia-announces-ceer-ev-brand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new electric vehicle brand of Saudi Arabia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>S\u00fchlmann has more than two decades of experience in automotive design, most of it earned at the Volkswagen Group. One of the cars whose design he oversaw was the track-only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136877_mclaren-solus-gt-revealed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solus GT hypercar<\/a> unveiled last year.<\/p>\n<p>In his new chief design officer role, S\u00fchlmann will lead a team responsible for future concepts, exterior and interior styling, plus color and materials. The team will also work with customers looking to personalize their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00fchlmann will also be charged with developing a new design language for McLaren.
