However, given NIO&#8217;s premium status they will be sold under a different brand name. A budget friendly sub-brand, codenamed Firefly, is currently in development and will be launched in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Firefly brand&#8217;s first model will reportedly be an affordable hatchback with a starting price of under \u20ac30,000 ($33,290). For compact cars, the proportion of the battery cost will be bigger than [the cost in] another car.\u00a0But this challenge is universal;\u00a0it\u2019s not only for NIO. Other compact models in Europe are facing a similar challenge.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Li believes NIO can get ahead of the competition through its innovative battery swapping service. NIO\u00a0plans on having 1,000\u00a0swap stations\u00a0outside China by the end of 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p><em>\u201cThis is all about competition, and competition is always relative. If we can outplay somehow in the product feature\u00a0and with what NIO stands for, with our Power Grid and other services,\u00a0if the overall experience we can provide for future European users is better in some areas,\u00a0then we can establish our competitiveness, then we can get our fair share.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>NIO&#8217;s first European model, the<a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/656653\/nio-et5-wagon-uncovered-in-china-will-go-on-sale-europe-first\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22656653%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22nio-et5-wagon-uncovered-in-china-will-go-on-sale-europe-first%22%7D\">\u00a0ET5 wagon<\/a>, will launch later this year. Available with a 75 kWh, 100 kWh or 150 kWh battery pack, the ET5 wagon was created with the European buyer in mind.
