While Lucid Motors’ first product, the Air sedan, has proven itself a formidable luxury car<\/a>, all eyes are now on its upcoming SUV. It’s called the Gravity<\/a>, and given the popularity of electric SUVs, it’s expected to become the brand’s first high-volume seller. For now, we know very little about this high-riding Lucid. However, thanks to the shots published today, we can see that it’ll carry a similar design language to its sedan sibling.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The carmaker announced that its first SUV has begun testing and development on U.S. public roads. And given that it’ll most likely share its electric motors, battery packs, and other major components with the Air, it’s not unreasonable to expect similar performance levels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Up front, it sports a similar headlight and grille design as the Air, even including what appears to be a prominent horizontal trim piece that showcases the brand’s name on its hood. The sedan’s vertical DRLs appear to carry over, as does its sizable rear light bar. If the Gravity looks like a sized-up version of the Air, that wouldn’t be bad, especially as its sedan counterpart’s styling is simple yet sleek.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite reportedly offering room for up to seven passengers, the Gravity appears relatively low to the ground, especially when compared to either the BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, or Tesla Model X.\u00a0According to Lucid, the Gravity is aiming to deliver greater range than any electric SUV on sale today while retaining sports car driving dynamics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Lucid has yet to publish any photographs of the upcoming SUV’s interior, the carmaker did announce that it plans to debut a new set of displays for this unique cabin. The Gravity will also house a new generation of the carmaker’s proprietary infotainment system.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As of writing, we don’t have an official debut date for the Gravity. However, the carmaker’s website states it plans to begin accepting reservations sometime this Spring. Given that fact, it wouldn’t be unusual to expect a full unveil sometime this year, with the electric SUV entering production in 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
