Key to this for Honda will be a move to exclusively selling battery- and hydrogen-electric vehicles globally by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>Honda has been slow to bring credible EVs onto the market, at least in the U.S., but the automaker will accelerate things this decade. Honda a year ago said it will launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1135565_honda-teases-2-electric-sports-cars-including-possible-redesigned-nsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">30 EVs globally by 2030<\/a>, some of which will reach the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Its first to reach local showrooms will be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1137392_2024-honda-prologue-previews-automaker-s-electric-future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Honda Prologue<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136869_acura-s-first-electric-suv-to-be-called-zdx-spawn-type-s-version\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acura ZDX<\/a> crossovers due in 2024, though both models will feature General Motors&#8217; Ultium EV platform and battery technology set. GM will also build the vehicles for Honda.<\/p>\n<p>A mid- to large-size EV based on Honda&#8217;s own platform (previously referred to as e:Architecture), thought to be a crossover, will then follow in 2025, Honda said on Tuesday. It also plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136986_new-4-4b-us-battery-plant-to-supply-future-honda-acura-evs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">construct a battery plant<\/a> in partnership with LG Energy Solution.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1138340_sony-honda-ev-brand-called-afeela-launches-with-sedan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new EV brand Afeela<\/a> that Honda is developing with Sony will likely utilize one of the Honda plants. The first Afeela was revealed in January as a sleek sedan. Honda said on Tuesday it is developing the semi-solid-state batteries with the battery technology company SES.
