{"id":48397,"date":"2023-04-27T12:04:08","date_gmt":"2023-04-27T16:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=48397"},"modified":"2023-04-27T12:04:08","modified_gmt":"2023-04-27T16:04:08","slug":"volvo-ex90-orders-surpassed-boldest-most-ambitious-expectations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=48397","title":{"rendered":"Volvo EX90 Orders Surpass &#8220;Boldest, Most Ambitious&#8221; Expectations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Volvo EX90 flagship electric SUV has gotten off to a great start when it comes to orders, even though it starts around $80,000 in the US and customer deliveries are almost a year away.<\/p>\n<p>In its Q1 2023 results report released today, Volvo Cars cited &#8220;tremendous reception from customers&#8221; for <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/620863\/volvo-ex90-revealed-xc90-replacement\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22620863%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22volvo-ex90-revealed-xc90-replacement%22%7D\">the EX90 flagship EV that had its global unveiling last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This has surpassed the company&#8217;s boldest and most ambitious internal projections,&#8221; the automaker said in a press release without disclosing numbers. &#8220;As a result, Volvo Cars has closed the order book for the time being because the first scheduled production run is sold out, but it will re-open again soon,&#8221; the company added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/volvo\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22volvo%22%7D\">Volvo Cars<\/a> also said the strong customer response has given it &#8220;renewed confidence in its strategy and roadmap for the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Unveiled in November 2022, the Volvo EX90 is a sister vehicle to the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/657945\/polestar-3-china-price-cut\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22657945%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22polestar-3-china-price-cut%22%7D\">Polestar 3<\/a>, although it offers one extra row of seats for a total capacity of seven passengers. A fourth one will be unveiled later this year under the EX30 moniker. As the name suggests, it will be an entry-level small SUV that&#8217;s set to take the company &#8220;into a new demographic and with a competitive price point.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After launching the EX30 \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/632526\/2024-volvo-ex30-debut-date\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the global unveiling is scheduled for June 15<\/a> \u2013 Volvo says it will introduce more fully electric cars in the coming years, &#8220;at least one per year until mid-decade.&#8221; These future EVs will be built on next-generation electrical architectures and core computing technology.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For now, with the launches of the EX90 and EX30, Volvo said it will cover both the top end of the premium electric market as well as the entry level premium segment.
