It has also control over which companies can deploy charging stations at its rest stops, and so far, it has only allowed EnBW, MER, Ionity, and Eon-Innogy to operate charging stations on its properties.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla, along with Netherlands-based charging station company Fastned, has decided to sue in order to challenge this monopoly and be able to deploy stations along the German Autobahn.<\/p>\n<p>Germany\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focus.de\/finanzen\/news\/monopol-an-tankstellen-tesla-klagt-gegen-tank-rast-warum-das-urteil-fuer-sie-wichtig-ist_id_192181071.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Focus<\/a> reports (translated from German):<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\" readability=\"7\">\n<p>Starting Thursday, the D\u00fcsseldorf Higher Regional Court will be hearing whether the federal government will extend the Tank &amp; Rast monopoly at motorway service stations to include fast charging.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Tesla and Fastned argue there\u2019s no reason for Tank &amp; Rast\u2019s monopoly on gas stations to extend to charging stations as they are completely different business.<\/p>\n<p>Fastned also noted that it gives the company too much power as they get to decide where and if a specific location along the highways will get a charging station.<\/p>\n<p>A ruling is not expected to be achieved today, but negotiations are expected to start.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-disclaimer-container\" readability=\"6.3518518518519\">\n<p class=\"disclaimer-affiliate\"><em>FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/about\/#affiliate\">More.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- post ad --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla is suing Tank &amp; Rast, a large gas station operator in Germany, for the right to install charging stations along the Autobahn.
