Rast over the right to install EV chargers along Germany\u2019s famous Autobahn.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, a handful of EV charging networks \u2013 EnBW, MER, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/550121\/ionity-investment-7000-chargers-2025\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22550121%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ionity-investment-7000-chargers-2025%22%7D\">Ionity<\/a>, and Eon-Innogy \u2013 have been allowed to install charging stalls at Autobahn rest stops, and that\u2019s for one simple reason: Tank &amp; Rast monopoly at motorway service stations to include fast charging.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ahead of yesterday\u2019s court date, a <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/549961\/tesla-navigation-includes-fastned-charging\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22549961%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22tesla-navigation-includes-fastned-charging%22%7D\">Fastned<\/a> representative said that the two charging operators should be granted the opportunity to place chargers at Tank &amp; Rast locations, specifically because EV charging is fundamentally different from fueling, which the German company previously received a permit for.<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10\">\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not just about this case, but about the competition in general,\u201d said the Fastned representative. \u201cCharging at service areas should become fairer, more open, and cheaper.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Until recently, Tank &amp; Rast had little to no interest in EV chargers being placed at its Autobahn locations, with a few stalls from partners scattered around the country.
