{"id":48711,"date":"2023-05-02T09:03:10","date_gmt":"2023-05-02T13:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=48711"},"modified":"2023-05-02T09:03:10","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T13:03:10","slug":"tesla-model-3-y-price-increase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=48711","title":{"rendered":"Tesla raises prices a small amount in U.S., China, Japan and Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tesla\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Tesla<\/a> has raised prices in a range of up to $290 in Canada, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/china\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">China<\/a>, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/japan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Japan<\/a> and the United States, its website showed on Monday, after having slashed prices on its top-selling vehicles since the start of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The hike was Tesla&#8217;s first on its two top-selling models at the same time in multiple markets, although prices across its lineup are much lower than in January, after a round of discounts.<\/p>\n<p>Last month Chief Executive <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/elon+musk\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">Elon Musk<\/a> said the company would prioritize sales growth ahead of margins and look to profit later on its rollout of self-driving software for a larger fleet of vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Since January, Tesla has shifted to a real-time pricing model that is closer to airlines or ride-sharing than the fixed prices of the traditional auto industry model.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has said the company is willing to sacrifice margin for sales volume but is also looking to move prices back higher, where it can, to match deliveries with output.<\/p>\n<p>By Monday, Tesla&#8217;s website showed it had raised the starting price point by $250 on the base model <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tesla\/model+y\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">Model Y<\/a> and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tesla\/model+3\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Model 3<\/a> in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Prices changed about the same amount in its second largest market of China, as well as in Canada and Japan, those websites showed.<\/p>\n<p>It was the first time since January that Tesla has increased the price of its cheapest car, the Model 3, in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The entry-level, rear-wheel-drive Model 3 is still about 14% cheaper in the U.S. than at the start of the year. The long-range version of the Model Y remains about 24% cheaper in Tesla&#8217;s largest market.<\/p>\n<p>In Canada, Tesla raised prices by C$300 ($222) for the performance versions of its Model 3 and Model Y.
