The joint development between the two companies is already underway, with the goal of providing EVs with swappable battery packs by Q1 2024.<\/p>\n<p>According to the official press release, the first customers for the Ample-powered <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/fisker\/ocean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\">Ocean<\/a> EVs will be \u201cfleet operators who are looking to transition to electric mobility without economic or operational compromises.\u201d In other words, private customers won\u2019t have access to this variant of the vehicle, at least in the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>As reported back in 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/492894\/ample-battery-swapping-system-all-evs\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22492894%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ample-battery-swapping-system-all-evs%22%7D\">Ample\u2019s swappable battery packs<\/a> are made out of multiple same-size modules which measure roughly the same as a shoebox. The American automaker says that high-mileage drivers, such as those in the ride-hailing industry, would be a good fit for the Ocean EVs with swappable power sources.<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly excited about our relationship with Fisker.
